Look younger with the help of light energy.

At Seattle Regenerative Medicine Center, our Radiance Medical Spa was established to offer advanced skin rejuvenation treatments to patients who seek natural ways to look and feel their best. Our founder, Dr. Hostetter, has equipped her medical spa with the Venus Versa system. This world-class treatment device delivers customized photofacial treatments using IPL or “intense pulsed light” to rejuvenate aging skin, removing visible skin flaws with pulses of light energy.

The light energy emitted from the device targets the pigment under the skin’s surface to reduce the appearance of discolorations. It is also very effective for the treatment of vascular marks such as spider veins and port wine stains. This remarkable device makes it possible to restore an even skin tone by undergoing just a few quick treatments.

How does photofacial work?

Our treatment device works by gently heating the outer layers of skin on the face. The heat is generated in the hyperpigmented area of your face, where it stimulates the production of fresh, natural collagen. The treatment can help you enjoy life with an even skin tone, enhanced smoothness, and greater skin resiliency for a more youthful and vital look.

Is an IPL photofacial right for me?

The best candidate for a photofacial treatment is a person who has an uneven complexion due to sun spots, age spots, freckles, other discolorations, or visible veins on their skin. Photofacial treatments have the added benefit of triggering natural collagen production to help smooth the look of fine lines.

    What can photofacial treat?

An IPL photofacial session can treat a range of skin issues, including:

    • Brown spots
    • Sunspots
    • Freckles
    • Spider veins
    • Acne scars
    • Hyperpigmentation
    • Port wine stains
    • Reddened facial skin
    • Sun damage
    • Broken capillaries

    What is the treatment like?

Your treatment involves a handheld device applied to each area of the skin. A session usually lasts 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the extent of the discolorations on your skin. The sensation is like a light snap or flick felt on the skin's surface. It is reasonably easy to experience as the applicator has a built-in cooling feature that keeps the treatment as comfortable as possible. You may feel minor discomfort in more sensitive areas, such as the upper lip. The light energy emitted by the device works to break apart the skin pigment into tiny particles that rise to the surface and are shed by the body.

How many treatments will I need?

For the best results, a series of three to five treatments, performed at four-week intervals, are recommended. You will achieve optimal results in about three to five months following your series of treatments.

What is the recovery time after a photofacial session?

Every person is different when it comes to their rate of healing. In most cases, a photofacial session will leave the skin reddened for about two to five days. For more intense treatments, redness and minor bruising or swelling may linger for a few days longer. You are free to return to your usual activities following your treatment. In the days ahead, the pigmented cells rise to the surface and are naturally shed, leaving your skin with a healthy, natural glow.

How long will the results last?

The results can be long-lasting, but every person is unique in how their skin reacts to the treatment, and how they care for their skin. Protecting your skin with sunscreen is important and will help the results last. We recommend a touch-up session every three to six months, depending on how your skin responds to the treatment.
